<p>Athol is a historic slave manor and recotory located in Columbia , Howard County, Maryland, USA</p><br>
<p>The house was built as the neighboring rectory of the Christ Church Guilford, which was built on the site of a 1711 burned church which was rebuilt. Edmund Lord Bishop of London sent Viscount of Oxenford, James MacGill to administer a chapel of ease in Queen Caroline Parish in Anne Arundel County. (later broke off to become Howard County.) On 17 August 1732, King Charles granted to James MacGill to form a new Church of England in the Maryland Colony. The patent was titled "Athol" after McGills home in Scotland. The title named the county "Winkepin", a reference to the future Wincopin plantation. "Williams Lot", "Scantlings Lot", and "Browns Hopyard" were combined into a new patent named "Athole Enlarged" on 29 September 1763. McGill brought laborers from Scotland and local slaves to construct the granite building where he raised eleven children with his wife Sarah Hilleary. Construction on Athole started in 1732, and finished by 1740. A side addition was built in 1768. A steep roof and door size windows were built to minimize taxes to England on certain features. A square cupola was added, and later removed due to deterioration. A conservatory was constructed in the 1980s. In 1776, the American Revolutionary War caused the cutoff from the Church of England. McGill accumulated a total of to his estate before he died in 1779 and was buried on the estate. The property was contested among the MacGill heirs until sold to John Hathaway in 1821 for $3,944.50. Subsequent owners included Nehemiah Moxley Sr, whose decedent&#39;s would serve as county commissioner and subdivider of large tracts of Howard County to form the Columbia development. In 1927, the estate was conveyed by James Clark to local newspaper magnate Paul Griffith Stromberg to the Coar family who added electricity, plumbing and central heating. Tom and Edwina Dike maintained the house until 1986 as Columbia was built on subdivisions of the land. The property located adjacent to Route 29, has been subdivided down to 147 acres in 1863, 14 acres in 1976, and just 2.3 acres surrounding the site today. The site with a stone marker labeled Athol 1730, was purchased by the Rouse Company. Two Gravesites located on the estate were moved for residential development, gravesites to the east had tombstones removed without bodies re-interred before development. A 1997 historical survey recommending the property for National Historic Register status for significant contributions to history, Architecture and artistic merit. The recommendation was denied by the office of preservation services. All but one pre-colonial structures in the limits of the planned community of Columbia have been denied historic status. The Martin Road Park is built on the property adjacent to the manor home.</p><br>
<p>The Northern Mazghuna Pyramid is an ancient Egyptian royal tomb which was built during the 12th or 13th Dynasty in Mazghuna, 5 km south of Dahshur. The building remained unfinished, and it is still unknown which pharaoh was really intended to be buried here since no appropriate inscription has been found.</p><br>
<p>The pyramid was rediscovered in 1910 by Ernest Mackay and excavated in the following year by Flinders Petrie.</p><br>
<h2>Attribution</h2><br>
<p>When the two Mazghuna pyramids were rediscovered, scholars noticed many structural similarities between those two and Amenemhat III&#39;s pyramid at Hawara; for this reason the southern pyramid was attributed to the son and successor of this king, Amenemhat IV. Subsequently, the northern pyramid was attributed to the female-pharaoh Sobekneferu, sister of Amenemhat IV and last ruler of the 12th Dynasty.</p><br>
<p>However, some scholars such as William C. Hayes believed that the two Mazghuna pyramids were built during the 13th Dynasty, on the basis of some similarities with the pyramid of Khendjer. In this case, the northern pyramid should have belonged to one of the many pharaohs who ruled between the beginning of the 13th Dynasty and the loss of control of the northern territory occurred during or soon after the reign of Merneferre Ay.</p><br>
<h2>Description</h2><br>
<p>The pyramid superstructure seem to have never been started, and the only information that can be determined from it is that the pyramid was planned larger than its southern neighbor, which has a side length of 52.5 m.</p><br>
<p>The hypogeum is similar to the one of the southern pyramid but much more tortuous, changing direction six times. The entrance is on the north side. From there, a staircase leads down to a square chamber and then to another staircase an to the first quartzite blocking. After that, two other chambers are connected by a passage with a second, still unsealed blocking. After the third chamber, a stairway and then a corridor leads to the antechamber just prior to the large burial chamber: this room, partially covered by an inverted V-shaped ceiling, is entirely filled by a huge sarcophagus-vault, which was carved from a single block of quartzite. The never-used sarcophagus lid, a 42-ton quartzite slab, still awaits to be fitted in the chamber. All exposed quartzite, which was built in the pyramid, had been painted with red paint and sometimes also decorated with vertical black stripes. The function of a large room behind the burial chamber remain unknown.</p><br>
<p>From the pyramid complex the valley temple, the funerary temple and the enclosure walls had apparently left no traces. Only a large portion of the causeway has been discovered, as well as another blocking stone, likely abandoned due to a change of the pyramid&#39;s design.</p><br>
<p>The Marchreisenspitze, at, is the fifth highest summit of the Kalkkögel in the Stubai Alps. Together with the Ampferstein and the Malgrubenspitze they form the well known Dreigestirn  above the Axamer Lizum, which are visible far into the Inn valley.</p><br>
<h2>Ascent</h2><br>
<p>The most popular route to the top is the "Lustige Bergler Steig", an easy klettersteig, that runs from Halsl over the Ampferstein and up to the Marchreisenspitze. From Ampferstein the route climbs past the southern side of the Kehlbachlspitzen before leading to the south flank of the Marchreisenspitze. it crosses a boulder-strewn ravine and several ledges before reaching the summit.</p><br>
<p>Another ascent is the one from the Gsallerweg through the southwest flank.</p><br>
<p>There are also several routes through the large gravel field of the Lizum or from the Schlick valley head to the south.</p><br>

<p>The Wildsee, occasionally also called the Seefelder See , is a lake near the Austrian resort of Seefeld in Tirol at the foot of the Gschwandtkopf . It has an area of 6.1 hectares and a maximum depth of 5.1 metres. The majority of the lake belongs to the municipality of Seefeld, its south and west shores are part of Reith bei Seefeld.</p><br>
<p>The lake is fed from the Haglbach, which rises below the col of the Seefelder Joch and empties into the lake in the southeast, and water from the bog of Reither Moor and other smaller springs. Its catchment area is just under 7 km². It is drained northwards by the Seebach which empties into the River Isar.</p><br>
<p>On the east shore of the lake are small beds of reed and sedge; on the west shore mixed forest runs down to the lake. South of the lake is the Reither Moor, a raised bog resulting from the silting up of the Wildsee in which mountain pine trees grow. The south shore and the Reither Moor are a nature reserve.</p><br>
<p>The Wildsee probably gave the village of Seefeld, first mentioned in 1022, its name. Emperor Maximilian I used it for fish farming and had lampreys introduced, which is why the lake also bore the name Lampretensee. The breeding of this fish, a prized delicacy at that time, only lasted for a few decades, however. Today, the Wildsee is a popular bathing lake with two beaches. According to limnological research, the lake has a low to medium nutrient content. Due to the bog-like character of the lake, visibility is only about 1 to 3 metres. In 2013 the water quality was classified as excellent.</p><br>
<p>The Wildsee is threatened by silting up as a result of the sediment transported to it by the Haglbach. In future a pond will be excavated east of Innsbrucker Straße in order to trap the sediment. There is also discussion about enlarging the lake.</p><br>

<p>Mercy Hospital is a two story building in Nampa, Idaho. Built in 1919 and operated by the Sisters of Mercy, the building was vacated in 1967 when the hospital moved to the newly constructed Mercy Medical Center. The building was then used by several different occupants, the last, Valley Plaza</p><br>
<p>Retirement Center, closed in 2004. Includes photos and drawings.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Fundraising began in 1917 for a 32-room hospital. Financed by the city and the Sisters of Mercy, and using land donated by the Catholic Church, ground was broken in December 1918. The building was completed in October 1919 and dedicated on November 4, 1919. The building was expended several times, including 1936, 1957, and 1959, with a final capacity of 100. Having outgrown the 6th Street location, the hospital moved to a 120 bed facility on 12th Avenue in 1967.</p><br>
<p>The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. The entire block between 16th and 17th Avenues South and 8th and 9th Streets South is included in the listing, though only the hospital building and a grotto retain historic or architectural significance. Mercy Hospital is significant as an example of a community-based effort to build a modern hospital at a time when such a facility was unusual for a town of Nampa&#39;s size.</p><br>
<h2>Recent use</h2><br>
<p>The building was used as an office building, storage, and as a Head Start location in the years after 1967. It was remodeled for use as an assisted living facility in the 1990s that closed in 2004. The building has been vacant since then.</p><br>
<p>In early 2006 there was a fire in the abandoned building. Another fire in January 2016 gutted much of the interior and damaged the roof. In May the building was demolished.</p><br>
<p>The Rochester Commercial and Industrial District encompasses the civic, commercial, and industrial heart of Rochester, New Hampshire. Oriented around the citys Central Square, the 6 acre district includes the citys major civic buildings, most of which are Classical Revival structures from the early 20th century, a number of commercial buildings dating as far back as the square&#39;s formation in the 1820s, and several late 19th-century industrial facilities. The district extends primarily along Main Street, from Bridge and Union Streets to Winter and Academy Streets, and includes properties extending along Wakefield and Hanson Streets, as well as other adjacent streets. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>Rochester was chartered as a town in 1722, but substantive colonial settlement did not take place until conflicts with Native Americans subsided in the mid-18th century. The town was a center for lumber trade, and became a transportation hub, with the intersection of two stagecoach routes at what is now Central Square. In the 19th century it developed as a center of the textile and shoe industries, contributing to the states nationwide prominence in the latter industry at the end of the century. Between 1797 and 1840 it was the county seat of Strafford County. The introduction of the railroad in 1849 continued the citys importance in transportation.</p><br>
<p>The citys downtown is largely a product of late 19th and early 20th-century development, although there are surviving elements representative of its earlier importance. A few residences and commercial buildings dating to the 1820s are found on North Main Street, northwest of Central Square, interspersed with later 19th-century and modern infill. The Central Square area, the junction of North Main, South Main, and Wakefield Streets, is ringed with late 19th and early 20th-century commercial buildings, mostly of brick construction. Civic and religious buildings are also found along Main Street, including a courthouse, city hall, and churches. The citys 19th-century industrial heritage is remembered in the four-story factory building of E.W. Wallace, its major shoe manufacturer, at 100 South Main Street.</p><br>
<p>The Salmon Falls Mill Historic District encompasses a historic mill complex on Front Street in Rollinsford, New Hampshire. The complex includes four major structures and seven smaller ones, on about 14 acre of land along the Salmon Falls River. They were built between about 1840 and the mid-1860s, and have an unusual architectural unity, for additions made to the buildings were done with attention to matching elements of the existing structures. The Number 2 Mill, built in 1848, was an early location where a turbine was used instead of a waterwheel to provide power to the mill machinery. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The area that is now Rollinsford was settled in the 1620s, and the site of the present Salmon Mills complex has a documented history of industrial use since 1623-24, when the Salmon Falls River was first dammed and a sawmill built. In 1822 the water privilege was purchased by a Portsmouth merchant, who established a successful woolen mill. It burned in 1834, but was soon replaced by a cotton mill. That mill was eventually purchased by a partnership including Amos Lawrence, a major Boston, Massachusetts textile industrialist. Eventually incorporated as the Salmon Falls Manufacturing Company, Lawrence and his associates built a new mill (the present Number 2 building), and introduced new technology perfected at Lowell, Massachusetts including the turbine. A fire in 1864 destroyed the original Number 1 mill. The Salmon Falls Manufacturing Company ended production in 1927, and the buildings have since seen other industrial uses.</p><br>
<p>The historic district consists of eleven builings and structures, most of which are set between Front Street and the river. The concrete dam spanning the river, built as a replacement of a wooden dam around 1910, is included in the district, as is the railroad bridge just downstream. One building, a cotton warehouse, is located across Front Street. The buildings exhibit a remarkable unity of style despite a construction history spanning more than 50 years, with most buildings built of brick in an industrial Italianate style.</p><br>
<p>The Browns Ferry vessel is a shipwrecked colonial vessel. Based on an analysis of artifacts found on the wreck, it sank sometime between 1730 and 1740 in the Black River, near a place known as Browns Ferry, which is in the general vicinity of Georgetown, South Carolina. The ship was apparently a merchant cargo vessel, and was not obviously associated with the ferry operation. At the time of its discovery, the wrecked vessel was judged to provide a unique view into the shipbuilding industry of the southern British colonies of North America. The ship was more than 50 ft in length and 14 ft wide. It had a 3 ft hold, a draft of 2&#39;10", and an estimated capacity of 30 tons. It was built of oak, pine, and cypress planking. She had a flat bottom and no keel. When she sank her principal cargo was a load of bricks.</p><br>
<p>The vessel was excavated and raised in 1976, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It is now on display at the Rice Museum in Georgetown.</p><br>
<p>The Owen Building, known more recently as the Bruce Building, is a historic office building at 1321 Lady Street in Columbia, South Carolina. It is an eight-story concrete structure which was built in 1949 around the core of an older two-story brick building. It was designed by Lafaye, Lafaye, and Fair for local businessman Frank Owen, and was the first skyscraper built in the city after World War II. Its primary tenant for many years was Southern Bell Telephone Company, who in 1961 constructed an annex to the building to house computer equipment. It was purchased by the Seibels Bruce Insurance Company, another major tenant, in 1980. The building exterior has been relatively little-altered since its construction, and it retains some of its early internal features, including a period mail chute.</p><br>
<p>The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.</p><br>
<p>Holuhraun is a large lava field just north of the Vatnajökull ice cap, in the Icelandic Highlands, in Suður-Þingeyjarsýsla, Northeastern Region, Iceland. The lava field was created by fissure eruptions. After a research expedition in 1880, the lava field was initially called Kvislarhraun. Four years later, it received its current name by the geologist and geographer, Þorvaldur Thoroddsen.</p><br>
<h2>Geography</h2><br>
<p>Holuhraun is situated at the southern end of Ódáðahraun, which is one of the largest lava fields in the country. The main volume of the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river flows from the eastern side of Holuhraun, in the Kverkfjöll area. The Dyngjujökull glacier, which is part of Vatnajökull, is to the immediate south. and the Bárðarbunga volcano is 41.39 km to the south-west of Holuhraun. Holuhraun is traversed by an unnumbered road, which connects to the Route F910 gravel road at both the east and the west ends.</p><br>
<h2>Geology</h2><br>
<p>Located at the northern and southern extensions of the Bárðarbunga and Askja fissure systems, respectively, the soil is mainly composed of lavas derived from these volcanoes, either in the form of flows or alluvial deposits of volcanic origin. The geological configuration, along with the presence of nearby subglacial volcanoes such as Bárðarbunga and Grímsvötn, is responsible for the risk of jökulhlaups, which have already affected Holuhraun, repeatedly.</p><br>
<h3>Volcanism</h3><br>
<p>Until 2014, the surface of the lava field was of an older lava flow, which had erupted from a vent associated with Askja in 1797. In the early hours of 29 August 2014, a small fissure eruption occurred in Holuhraun at the northern end of a magma intrusion which had moved progressively north, since 16 August, from the Bárðarbunga volcano.</p><br>
<p>Another fissure eruption started in Holuhraun at around 05:05 GMT on the morning of 31 August 2014, in the same rift as the eruption which had occurred two days earlier. The eruptive fissure was estimated to be 1.5 km long.</p><br>
<p>The eruption ended on 27 February 2015. The Holuhraun lava field measures more than 85 square km and the volume is around 1.6 km³.</p><br>
<p>Several names were proposed for the new lava field in the Holuhraun area, among them Flæðahraun, Nornahraun, and Urðarbruni. Finally, the decision was to keep the existing name Holuhraun.</p><br>
<p>Quinn Run is a tributary of Heberly Run in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. It is approximately 2.3 mi long and flows through Davidson Township, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. The watershed of the stream has an area of 2.31 square miles. The stream is acidic and is considered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to be impaired by atmospheric deposition. Rock formations in the watershed include the Huntley Mountain Formation and the Burgoon Sandstone. Soils in the watershed include the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga soil association, and the Oquaga and Norwich soil associations. There are some waterfalls on the stream.</p><br>
<h2>Course</h2><br>
<p>Quinn Run begins in northern Davidson Township. It flows southeast for a short distance before turning south and entering a valley. After some distance, the stream turns east-southeast and receives the tributary Shanty Run. Approximately 0.4 mi further downstream, Quinn Run reaches its confluence with Heberly Run just upstream of Lewis Falls.</p><br>

<h2>Hydrology</h2><br>
<p>During average flow conditions, the discharge of Quinn Run is 1111 gallons per minute. The concentration of aluminum in the stream is 0.114 milligrams per liter during average flow conditions and the pH is 5.75.</p><br>
<p>Quinn Run experiences episodic acidification. However, it is not extremely deficient in alkalinity.</p><br>
<p>Quinn Run has "good" water quality during average flow conditions and "very poor" water quality during high flow conditions. However, several methods have been proposed to improve its water quality by increasing alkalinity. These methods include the addition of vertical flow wetlands at the stream&#39;s headwaters, forest surface liming, and road liming.</p><br>
<p>Quinn Run is considered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to be impaired by atmospheric deposition due to pH.</p><br>
<h2>Geography and geology</h2><br>
<p>The elevation near the mouth of Quinn Run is 1,466 ft above sea level. The elevation of the stream&#39;s source is between 2,280 ft and 2,300 ft.</p><br>
<p>Most of Quinn Run is on rock of the Huntley Mountain Formation. However, the stream&#39;s upper reaches are on rock of the Burgoon Sandstone formation. There are some rock outcroppings in the watershed.</p><br>
<p>Most of Quinn Run flows over soil of the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga soil association. However, its upper reaches are on soil of the Oquaga association and the Morris association. These soils are all highly acidic.</p><br>
<h2>Watershed</h2><br>
<p>The watershed of Quinn Run has an area of 2.31 square miles.</p><br>
<p>No part of Quinn Run is accessible by road. However, the stream can be accessed using a four-wheel drive. An old tram road also goes up the stream&#39;s valley.</p><br>
<p>Quinn Run is designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for use by aquatic life.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Together with its tributary Shanty Run, the restoration of Quinn Run is the second phase of the East Branch Fishing Creek Restoration Plan. This phase is estimated to cost $300,000, making it the second most expensive phase of the restoration plan.</p><br>
<p>Todd Lake is a natural lake near the crest of the Cascade Range in central Oregon in the United States. The lake covers 45 acre. It is named in honor of John Y. Todd, an early settler in Central Oregon. Today, the lake and surrounding forest is managed by the United States Forest Service as part of the Deschutes National Forest. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife regularly stocks the lake with brook trout. There is a day-use area and a rustic campground located on the west shore of the lake. In the summer, Todd Lake is a popular outdoor recreation site for picnicking, fishing, hiking, and nature viewing. In the winter, trails in the Todd Lake area are used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Originally, Todd Lake was called "Lost Lake" because it was difficult for people to find. In the early 20th century, citizens of Bend, Oregon, asked that the name of the lake be changed to avoid confusion with several other Oregon lakes with the same name. In 1922, the name of the lake was officially changed to Todd Lake. The name honors John Y. Todd, an early pioneer in central Oregon. Todd immigrated to Oregon in 1852. In 1860, he built the first bridge across the Deschutes River. Later, he became a successful cattle rancher. Todd founded of the Farewell Bend Ranch, which gave the city of Bend its name.</p><br>
<p>Todd Lake and the surrounding forest are part of the Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District, an administrative sub-division of the Deschutes National Forest. In 1964, the United States Congress created the Three Sisters Wilderness surrounding the Three Sisters mountains in Oregon&#39;s Cascade Range. Todd Lake is just outside the southern boundary of the wilderness. As a result, Todd Lake is a major wilderness access point for hikers.</p><br>
<p>Road access to Todd Lake has always been via Forest Road 46 (also known as the Cascade Lakes Highway). In 1989, the Forest Service designated the road as a National Forest Scenic Byway. In 1997, the State of Oregon made the road an Oregon state scenic byway. A year later, the federal government officially designated the highway as a national scenic byway, calling it the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. Many travel guides for the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway mention Todd Lake, highlighting its location as the first Cascade lake along the byway.</p><br>
<h2>Geology and geography</h2><br>
<p>Todd Lake is located on the east side of the Cascade Range in central Oregon, 24 mi southwest of Bend. It is situated in a small glacial valley at the base of Broken Top, southwest of the peak. The glacier that created the valley melted away about 13,000 years ago, leaving a glacial cirque. As a result, the lake is relatively deep for its size. The lake&#39;s elevation is 6,150 ft above sea level.</p><br>
<p>Most of the lake water comes from snow melt. The only year-round inflow is drainage from Bare Lake, a very small natural lake located 0.5 mi southwest of Todd Lake. The lake&#39;s only outlet is Todd Creek, which begins at the south end of the lake. Todd Creek disappears in a lava field approximately 2 mi southwest of the lake.</p><br>
<h2>Environment</h2><br>
<p>The watershed that drains into Todd Lake, covering only 0.9 square miles, is covered by a dense conifer forest. Mountain hemlock, lodgepole pine, and various fir species dominate the forest around the lake. However, there is a narrow strip of meadow land along the south and west side of the lake, and a large meadow at the north end.</p><br>
<p>Todd Lake is a natural lake that covers 45 acre. It is approximately 0.5 mi long and 0.15 mi wide. The lake has an average depth of 21 ft with a maximum depth of 60 ft near its south end.</p><br>
<p>Because of its sheltered location, Todd Lake has distinct thermal stratification levels within its water column. As a result, water below 15 ft in depth remains extremely cold even during the summer. The alkalinity level is typical of other high-elevation lakes in the Cascade Range. The lakes water transparency is good, with a Secchi disk depth of 23 ft. Concentration of chlorophyll in the lake is low. A 1982 study showed that Todd Lake had a high concentration of phosphorus, which is typical of mountain lakes in the central Cascades. Based on available data, the lakes trophic state is classified as oligotrophic.</p><br>
<h2>Flora</h2><br>
<p>There is a great diversity of plant life in the areas around Todd Lake. The conifer forest that surrounds the lake is dominated by mountain hemlock, lodgepole pine, and various fir species. Ground cover in the shaded parts of the forest includes bog huckleberry, whortleberry, smooth woodrush, Brewers mitrewort, and sidebells. In open areas of the forest Jacobs ladder, alpine lake agoseris, and larkspur are common ground cover.</p><br>
<p>The meadow areas around Todd Lake are well known for their wildflowers. Wildflowers bloom around the lake from late June through mid-August. The peak of the wildflower display is in mid-July. Many wildflowers continue to bloom throughout the summer, making Todd Lake an ideal place for nature viewing. As a result, the Forest Service has designated Todd Lake as a Pacific Northwest Region wildflower viewing area.</p><br>
<p>The wildflower show begins in late June when the Jeffreys shooting star and white marsh marigold bloom in the wet meadows and riparian areas. Newberrys knotweed is an early bloomer on the well-drained slopes above the lake. Then, elephanthead and other alpine plants begin to bloom in the meadows and along the lake shore.</p><br>
<p>Common meadow wildflowers include Jeffreys shooting star, elephanthead, Gormans buttercup, alpine asters, American alpine speedwell, Indian paintbrush, small-flowered paintbrush, high mountain cinquefoil, Grays ligusticum, green false hellebore, swamp laurel, and white bog orchid (Habenaria dilatata). Also, Jeffreys shooting star and marsh marigold grow close to the lake shore. In the moist riparian area near the lakes outlet, there are Gormans buttercup, yellow monkeyflower, Lewis monkey flower, arrowleaf groundsel, and false asphodel. Oregon saxifrage lives in some of the boggy areas around the lake.</p><br>
<p>On the edge of the meadows near the forest and along the Bare Creek drainage, there are high mountain cinquefoil, Grays ligusticum, Sitka valerian, cowebby Indian paintbrush, harsh Indian paintbrush, broadleaf lupine, and alpine lake agoseris. On drier slopes above the lake, Newberrys knotweed, larkspur, bracted lousewort, peregrine fleabane, dwarf lupine, sulphur flower, Martindale&#39;s lomatium, pussypaws, pink mountain heather, and Brewers mountain heather are common along with alpine lake agoseris.</p><br>
<h2>Fauna</h2><br>
<p>The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife regularly stocks Todd Lake with brook trout. These are the only game fish found in the lake. The trout average 8 to 10 in in length and some reach 15 in.</p><br>
<p>There are a number of reptiles and amphibians found in and around Todd Lake. Reptiles include the common garter snake and northern alligator lizard. Amphibians include the western toad, Cascade frog, Oregon spotted frog, Pacific chorus frog, Pacific giant salamander, northwestern salamander, Oregon slender salamander, clouded salamander, Dunn&#39;s salamander, long-tailed salamander, and rough-skinned newt. The western toad and the Cascade frog are threatened species. Both species are under the protection of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. It is illegal to harm or collect these species.</p><br>
<p>The Todd Lake area is also home to over 160 bird species. In the general area of the lake, birdwatchers can see a wide variety of waterfowl, songbirds, forest birds, and birds of prey. Waterfowl include mallards, wood duck, American wigeon, northern shoveler, American coot, Barrow&#39;s goldeneye, common merganser, hooded mergansers, and Canadian geese. Common shore and wetland birds include American dipper, spotted sandpiper, black tern, double-crested cormorant, great blue heron, and sandhill crane.</p><br>
<p>The meadows and forest around the lake are home to American goldfinch, Cassins finch, pine siskin, red crossbill, Brewers sparrow, house sparrow, song sparrow, yellow-rumped warbler, olive-sided flycatcher, Cordilleran flycatcher, Hammonds flycatcher, dusky flycatcher, mountain chickadee, black-capped chickadee, evening grosbeak, dark-eyed junco, western tanager, American robin, western bluebird, mountain bluebird, hermit thrush, Townsends solitaire, sage thrasher, golden-crowned kinglet, ruby-crowned kinglet, warbling vireo, house wren, cedar waxwing, barn swallow, cliff swallow, and tree swallow. Other forest birds found in the area include northern flicker, Clarks nutcracker, red-breasted nuthatch, Brown creeper, brown-headed cowbird, pinyon jay, Stellers jay, Brewers blackbird, common raven, and California quail. Local woodpecker species include American three-toed woodpecker, downy woodpecker, Pileated woodpecker, and hairy woodpecker. There are also two hummingbird species found in the area, Rufous hummingbirds and Calliope hummingbirds.</p><br>
<p>The lake also attracts a wide variety of birds of prey. There are seven owl species—northern pygmy owl, flammulated owl, boreal owl, spotted owl, barn owl, great gray owl, and great horned owl. There are also American kestrels, peregrine falcons, northern goshawks, Cooper&#39;s hawks, red-tailed hawks, osprey, golden eagles, bald eagles, and turkey vultures.</p><br>
<p>The mixed conifer forest around Todd Lake is home to numerous mammals. The large mammals include black-tailed deer, Roosevelt elk, coyotes, American black bear, bobcats, and cougars. Some of the small mammals found in the Todd Lake area include American badger, North American beaver, mountain beaver, porcupine, raccoon, striped skunk, western spotted skunk, American marten, mink, long-tailed weasel, western gray squirrel, American pika, least chipmunk, Townsend&#39;s chipmunk, bushy-tailed woodrat, and deer mouse, as well as several shrew and vole species. There are also three bat species that live near Todd Lake.</p><br>
<h2>Recreation</h2><br>
<p>Today, Todd Lake is a very popular recreation site. The Forest Service carefully manages the area in order to provide recreational opportunities for visitors while ensuring that the sensitive lake environment is protected. During the summer, the lake is a favorite place for picnicking, swimming, fishing, hiking, and nature viewing. No motorized boats are allowed on the lake, so watercraft use is limited to canoes, kayaks, rafts, inner tubes, and other non-motorized craft. There is a day-use area and a rustic campground on the west shore of the lake. The day-use facilities include picnic tables, fire pits, and a vault toilet. The campground has three tent-only campsites and a vault toilet. There is no potable water at the lake. From May through September, the Forest Service charges a modest fee for using the Todd Lake recreation area.</p><br>
<p>There are also a variety of trails near the lake for hiking and horseback riding. Because Todd Lake is located just outside the Three Sisters Wilderness, it is a major access point for hikers and campers heading into the wilderness. The trailhead for Todd Trail #34 is located at the south end of the lake. Todd Trail connects to Soda Creek Trail #11 from Sparks Lake. It then joins Broken Top Trail #10 running along the south side of Broken Top to Green Lakes Trail #17, which leads north to the Green Lakes at the base of the South Sister. During the summer, dogs must be kept on a leash when hiking on trails in the Three Sisters Wilderness, including all the trails mentioned above. The leash rules also apply to the Todd Lake day-use area, campground, and the trail that follows the shore around the lake.</p><br>
<p>In the winter, the highway to Todd Lake is closed due to snow. However, the trails around Todd Lake are very popular routes for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The closest road access is from the Mount Bachelor Nordic Center or Dutchman Sno-park, which are both near Mount Bachelor ski area, approximately 1.8 mi east of the lake.</p><br>
<p>Ravenscroft School, also known as Chateau Nollman, is a historic school building located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The oldest section was built about 1845, and is a two- to three-story brick building in the Greek Revival style. It consists of a squat, three-story, pyramidal-roofed tower with projecting two-story rectangular wings. The building has a number of later additions including a two-story brick wing and two-story frame wing. It was originally built as a residence, and housed a school from 1856 to the turn of the 20th century. It was used as a boarding or rooming house until 1977.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It is located in the Downtown Asheville Historic District.</p><br>
<p>The Musquaro Lake is located in the unorganized territory of Petit-Mécatina, Quebec, in the Regional County Municipality  Le Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent Regional County Municipality, in the administrative area of the Côte-Nord , in Quebec, in Canada.</p><br>
<h2>Geography</h2><br>
<p>Located on the Côte-Nord (North Shore) of Gulf of Saint Lawrence, the lake Musquaro covers an area of 207 square kilometers. The lake is 43 km long and 8 km wide. This lake is formed by a major expansion of the river of the same name.</p><br>
<p>The lake Musquaro is the main body of water feeding the Musquaro River. The mouth of the lake which is located in a bay at the south of the lake is about 32.5 km (direct line) northeast of the village of Kégaska and Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The lake Musquaro is located south of La Pommeraye Lake, west of Lake Marie Claire, and 4 km north of Lake Musquanousse which discharges into the river Musquanousse whose mouth is 8 km to the east the mouth of the Musquaro River.</p><br>
<p>The shape of the lake Musquaro is complex. The lake is dotted with islands and peninsulas of all shapes and sizes. Many of these bays are a longitudinal shape. Located on the Côte-Nord (North Shore), this lake receives its water from some rivers and lakes including Lake D&#39;Auteuil, west, which seems rather to be an extension.</p><br>
<h2>Toponymy</h2><br>
<p>The term "Musquaro" is a translation adapted from Native American language, meaning "tail of a black bear". Montagnais designate the lake "Mahkuanu Nipi" or "lake of the black bear tail&quot and the river "Kapitahkuiat Hipu" (or segments of the river) or Mahkuanu Hipu river "black bear tail". In his writings, the father Charles Arnaud indicates that up the Musquaro River, a mountain having the complete shape of a bear is encountered; and "not even the tail" is missing.</p><br>
<p>Naskapi use the label "Maskuanu Shipis" meanings the little river of the "tail of a black bear". This name appears in the documents of the seventeenth century, using distinctive spellings. On his map of the St. Lawrence River dated 1685, JB L. Franquelin shows "Mascouarou". In the nineteenth century and early twentieth century, the spelling of the name of the river are varied, although the pronunciation is similar. Rouillard listed the following spellings: Muskwaro, Mascourao, Maskuaro, Masquaro and Musquaro. In these graphs are added those of Maskouaro and Musquarro</p><br>
<p>The name "Lake Musquaro" was formalized on December 5, 1968 at the Bank of place names in the Geographical Names Board of Canada.</p><br>
<p>Biltmore Industries, Inc., also known as Biltmore Homespun Shops, is a historic industrial complex located adjacent to the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The complex of seven buildings were built about 1917 by Fred Loring Seely, and are constructed of hollow ceramic tile with stuccoed exterior wall surfaces. The buildings are The Eleanor Vance Building , Charlotte Yale Building , Carding and Spinning Building ,  Weavers&#39; Building  , Boiler House , Gatehouse , and Guardhouse . The complex produced high-quality crafts and fine hand-woven wool cloth.</p><br>
<p>The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Mr. Fred Seely, Sr. died in March 1942. His wife, Mrs. Evelyn Grove Seely (daughter of Edwin Wiley Grove by his first wife, sweet Mary Louisa,) became the owner of the complex. This was during World War II and it was difficult to find able-bodied workers to work in the wool industry. Fred Seely, Jr. was off in the war but took the reins of the family business when he came back from the war duties. Fred ran the business until 1953 when Mrs. Evelyn Seely died. Fred then began to sell off property. One man, Mr. Blomberg, wanted to buy a still from Fred. Fred said the only way to buy the still was to buy the whole complex of Biltmore Industries. The deal was made and Mr. Blomberg had a new endeavor.</p><br>
<p>Mr. Blomberg converted the weaver building to an antique car museum and brought all of his antique cars from all over Asheville and put them on display for the public. He also made a museum for the Homespun Industry. These are still in operation today. There is also a fine artist gallery on site. This is the world renown Grovewood Gallery. Sherry Masters was in charge of the gallery for over 20 years. Also, there are several artists in residence that produce items such as high quality flutes, prime jewelry, impressive glass and pottery works. Mr. Blombergs grandson, Harry, and his aunt (Blombergs daughter) Barbara, are now the owners of the complex.</p><br>
<p>Manor and Cottages is a historic resort complex and national historic district located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The complex encompassed 36 contributing buildings that were built starting in 1898. The main hotel, The Manor, was built starting in 1898-1899, and consists of a rambling group of interconnected wings with elements of the Colonial Revival, Shingle Style, and Tudor Revival styles. Wings were added to the original building in 1903 and 1913-1914. Located on the property are the contributing Club House  and a 19 guest cottages built between 1899 and 1920. The hotel was later converted for use as a retirement hotel for elderly persons with limited incomes.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.</p><br>
<p>Grove Park Historic District is a national historic district located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 290 contributing buildings and 1 contributing site in a predominantly residential section Asheville. The planned suburban community was originally platted and developed in 1908-1913 and 1914. It includes representative examples of Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, and Bungalow style dwellings. The community was laid out by noted landscape architect Chauncey Beadle. The Kimberly Amendment to Grove Park was an expansion made to the original Grove Park development in 1923. It includes the former Asheville Country Club, now the Grove Park Inn Country Club.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, with a boundary increase in 1990.</p><br>
<p>Meeker Run is a tributary of Heberly Run in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 0.9 mi long and flows through Davidson Township. Its watershed has an area of 0.41 square miles. The stream has a low pH, although that could potentially be remedied. The main rock formations in the area are the Huntley Mountain Formation and the Burgoon Sandstone. The main soil associations in the vicinity of the stream are the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga association, the Wellsboro association, the Norwich association, and the Oquaga association.</p><br>
<h2>Course</h2><br>
<p>Meeker Run begins on a plateau in Davidson Township. It flows south for a short distance before turning east and flowing into a valley. Along the way, it receives an unnamed tributary. At the end of the valley, it reaches its confluence with Heberly Run.</p><br>
<p>Meeker Run joins Heberly Run 2.93 mi upstream of its mouth.</p><br>

<h2>Hydrology</h2><br>
<p>Meeker Run has a discharge of 320 gallons per minute during average flow conditions. The pH of the stream during average flow conditions is 4.37 and the concentration of aluminum is 0.260 milligrams per liter. It experiences chronic acidification.</p><br>
<p>The water quality of Meeker Run is considered to be "severe" (a rating worse than "very poor") in both average and high flow conditions. However, the stream only significantly affects the water quality of Heberly Run during high flow conditions.</p><br>
<p>To be restored to the satisfaction of the East Branch Fishing Creek Restoration Plan, Meeker Run requires an additional alkalinity load of 16 lb per day. Proposed methods of adding alkalinity to the stream include forest surface liming, as this is the only feasible method, given the difficulty of accessing the stream.</p><br>
<p>A total of 0.96 mi of Meeker Run and 0.55 mi of its unnamed tributary are considered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to be impaired by atmospheric deposition due to pH and metals.</p><br>
<p>The concentration of dissolved organic carbon near the headwaters of Meeker Run is 15.0 milligrams per liter. This is nearly twice as high as any other studied stream in the watershed of East Branch Fishing Creek.</p><br>
<h2>Geography and geology</h2><br>
<p>The elevation near the mouth of Meeker Run is 1,935 ft above sea level. The elevation of the stream&#39;s source is between 2,360 ft and 2,380 ft above sea level.</p><br>
<p>The lower reaches of Meeker Run are on rock of the Huntley Mountain Formation and the upper reaches are on Burgoon Sandstone. Below its unnamed tributary, the stream flows over soil of the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga soil association. Upstream of this confluence, it flows over such soil associations as the Wellsboro association, the Oquaga association, and the Norwich association. Another minor soil association is found near its headwaters. Most of the soil in the watershed is strongly acidic.</p><br>
<h2>Watershed</h2><br>
<p>The watershed of Meeker Run has an area of 0.41 square miles. There are 1.2 mi of streams in the watershed of Meeker Run.</p><br>
<p>Wetlands such as marshes and fens are located in the upper reaches of the Meeker Run watershed. There is a tannic bog on a tributary of the stream.</p><br>
<p>Meeker Run can only be accessed using a four wheel drive.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>The restoration of Meeker Run is part of the first phase of the East Branch Fishing Creek Restoration Plan. This phase, which also includes Heberly Run, is estimated to cost $230,000.</p><br>
<p>Meeker Run was first listed as an impaired stream in 2002. As of December 2011 total maximum daily load is scheduled for it in 2015.</p><br>
<h2>Biology</h2><br>
<p>The macroinvertebrate community of Meeker Run is considered to be the worst of several streams in the watershed of East Branch Fishing Creek.</p><br>
<p>Oteen Veterans Administration Hospital Historic District is a historic hospital complex and national historic district located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 18 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure associated with the Veterans Administration hospital at Asheville. They were built between 1924 and 1940, and include white frame Colonial Revival and massive yellow stucco Georgian Revival structures. Notable buildings include the Administration Building , Wards A and B , Wards C and D , Wards E and F , Kitchen  and Dining Hall , Officers Quarters , and Nurses Dormitories . In 1967, a new Asheville, VA Medical Center complex was built adjacent to the original.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.</p><br>
<p>Buncombe County Boys&#39; Training School is a historic school building located near Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was built in 1927-1928, and is a two-story, granite and brick main building in the Tudor Revival style. It consists of three principal sections with a two-story, rear ell containing the kitchen and other service areas. The school was permanently closed in 1945, and the building was reopened in 1947 as the new County Home for the Aged. Since 1983, the building has housed an Army National Guard training center.</p><br>
<p>The building was renovated around 2006 and today, houses Buncombe County&#39;s Emergency Services and Operations Center</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.</p><br>
<p>The State Theater is an art deco-style theater in Clovis, New Mexico, which opened in 1936. It is still in use, although today it presents live musical acts rather than movies. It is one of three historic movie theaters in Clovis. The centerpiece of the marquee is a tall, vertical, cylindrical glass brick column.</p><br>
<p>In 2007 the theater, at 504 Main Street, was added to both the State and National Register of Historic Places listings in New Mexico (SR#1899, NRHP # 355920). It is one of two historic movie theaters in Clovis that are on the NRHP, the other being the Lyceum Theater at 409 Main Street. The nomination of the theater as part of the Clovis Railroad and Commercial Historic District includes the description of the State Theater by historian David Kammer as “the most richly detailed example of a modernistic style theater façade in New Mexico.”</p><br>
<p>Bent Creek Campus of the Appalachian Forest Experiment Station is a national historic district located near Asheville, in the Appalachian Mountains, Buncombe County, North Carolina.</p><br>

<p>Gunston Hall, also known as Franklin Hall, is a historic estate and a national historic district located at Biltmore Forest, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses five contributing buildings, one contributing site, and two contributing structures. The main house was designed by noted architect Waddy Butler Wood and built in 1923. It is a five-part Colonial Revival style dwelling consisting of a 1 1/2-story main block flanked by hyphens and 1 1/2-story wings. The grounds were designed by noted landscape architects Chauncey Beadle and Lola Anderson Dennis. Other contributing elements are the Grounds and Garden , the Breezeway , Gazebo , Tool Shed/Potting Shed , Greenhouse , Garden Shed , and Entrance Piers and Gates . The estate was built by Dr. William Beverley Mason, a great-great grandson of George Mason, who built Gunston Hall .</p><br>

<p>The Rafael Guastavino Sr. Estate, also known as Rhododendron, is a historic estate and a national historic district located near Black Mountain, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses three contributing sites and three contributing structures associated with the former estate of the noted Spanish-born architectural engineer Rafael Guastavino. Although the house was razed</p><br>
<p>in the late 1940s, the property includes above-ground ruins and landscaping, the ruins of Guastavino&#39;s tile kiln and its brick stack. Other contributing elements are a section of stone wall, a vaulted hillside cellar (traditionally known as the wine cellar), the exposed foundation ruins of the</p><br>
<p>house, and earthworks. The estate was Guastavino&#39;s principal residence for the last 14 years of his life. The property is now Christmount, the conference and retreat center of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).</p><br>

<p>Intheoaks, also known as In-the-oaks, is a historic estate and a national historic district located at Black Mountain, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses nine contributing buildings, two contributing sites, seven contributing structures, and four contributing objects associated with a country estate of the 1920s. The main house was built in 1921-1923, and is a four-level, "U"-shaped Tudor country manor house with an oblique wing. It was designed by New York architect Frank E. Wallis, with a large recreation wing containing a ballroom, gymnasium, bowling alley, and indoor swimming pool designed by noted architect Richard Sharp Smith. Also on the property are the contributing Caretaker&#39;s Cottage , agricultural and service outbuildings, main entrance gates designed by Smith and Carrier , and landscape designed by noted landscape architect Chauncey Beadle The property is known as Camp Henry, a camp for young people and the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina offices are located on the estate.</p><br>

<p>Blue Ridge Assembly Historic District is a national historic district located near Black Mountain, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 29 contributing buildings and 1 contributing object associated with the Blue Ridge Assembly, conference center of the Young Men&#39;s Christian Association. The main building is Eureka Hall  designed by Louis E. Jallade. It was built in 1911-1912, and is a three-story, seven bay, frame building with a full-height octastyle portico. Also located on the large central courtyard are the Gymnasium , Asheville Hall , Abbott Hall , and College Hall . Other notable buildings include the Martha Washington Residence , Craft and Child Care Center , and 19 frame cottages . Black Mountain College was founded here in 1933 and operated on the site until 1941.</p><br>

<p>Hatfield Safe House, or Simpsonville Mill Miller&#39;s House is a historic home located at Columbia, Howard County, Maryland, United States.</p><br>
<p>The three story wood framed house is three bays wide and one bay deep on a 9-acre parcel.</p><br>
<p>A house was built on a stone foundation built in 1755 for a possible grist mill. It is known as a safe house for the Underground railroad. The original structure burned down, with a new frame building built on the original foundation.</p><br>
<p>From 1865 to 1878 it was owned by William Braysahaw. In 1878, James Simpson resided at the residence to which "Simpsonville" is named. In the late 1920s the terraced landscape was dotted with chicken coops. From 1909 to 1934 the house was the residence of county commissioner William W. Inglehardt. The building is a component of Simpsonville Historic District.</p><br>
<p>The Napa County Courthouse Plaza is a complex in Napa, California, which consists of the Napa County Courthouse and the Hall of Records. The two buildings occupy an entire city block, which includes open areas and landscaping to create the site&#39;s plaza setting. The High Victorian Italianate courthouse was built in 1878 to replace the original 1856 courthouse. The courthouse continues to serve as the seat of Napa County government. The 1916 Hall of Records is a federally sponsored records building designed by William H. Corlett. The Renaissance Revival building represents an early use of reinforced concrete as a building material; the material became popular nationwide in the 1920s.</p><br>
<p>The plaza was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 18, 1992.</p><br>

<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, with boundary increases in 1989 and 1990. An increase / decrease occurred in 2011.</p><br>
<p>The current Burke County Courthouse is located at 201 South Green Street, Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina and operates as the courthouse for Burke County. It was opened in 1976 to replace the Old Burke County Courthouse. The old courthouse, in use by 1837, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.</p><br>
<h2>Old Burke County Courthouse</h2><br>
<p>The Old Burke County Courthouse is the historic courthouse building located at 102 East Union Street in Morganton. It was built in 1833-1835 at cost of $15,000, and is a two-story, square stone building on a raised basement in the Classical Revival style. It features pedimented porticos on two sides and an elaborate cupola added during a remodeling in 1901.</p><br>
<p>Shortly before the end of the American Civil War a detachment of Union cavalry raided the building in April 1865, as part of Stonemans 1865 Raid, and destroyed much of the countys records.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. and is located in the Morganton Downtown Historic District.</p><br>
<p>Valdese Elementary School, also known as Rock School, is a historic school building located at Valdese, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built in 1922-1923, and is a two-story, fieldstone four square building with a hipped roof. It features a T-shaped clerestory above the auditorium space. It was constructed largely by Waldensian settlers from Northern Italy.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.</p><br>
<p>Old Rock School is now home to several community organizations and events, including Bluegrass concerts, the Old Colony Players, the Rock School Art Galleries, Old Rock School Railway Museum, and Valdese Travel and Tourism.</p><br>
<h2>Old Rock School Railway Museum</h2><br>
<p>The Old Rock School Railway Museum, also known as the Piedmont & Western Railroad Museum, is located on the lower level and is operated by the Piedmont and Western Railroad Club. Exhibits include photos, railroad art, tickets, railroad lanterns, steam whistles, spikes, silverware and china used on trains and other artifacts. The museum also features model railroad layouts, including a diorama depicting the original Waldensian settlers arriving by train on May 29, 1893.</p><br>
<h2>Rock School Art Galleries</h2><br>
<p>The Rock School Art Galleries are also located in the Old Rock School. Exhibits are organized by the Rock School Arts Foundation.</p><br>
<p>Pillow-Bethel House is an historic mansion located off USA Route 43 in the city of Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee, United States. The mansion is one of three, built by master builder Nathan Vaught in 1855, for Jerome and Martha Harris Pillow. The other two were Clifton Place  and Pillow Place , also known as Pillow-Haliday Place.</p><br>
<p>The mansion was placed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Maury County, Tennessee on December 12, 1976.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Pillow-Bethel House was built for Jerome Bonaparte Pillow (1809 in Tennessee – 1891 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee), the youngest son of Gideon Pillow, and brother to General Gideon J. Pillow (1806 in Williamson County, Tennessee – 1878 in Mound Plantation, Phillips County, Arkansas), that owned Clifton Place, and Major Granville A. Pillow (1805 in Columbia, Tennessee – 1868 in Clifton, Tennessee), that owned Pillow-Haliday Place. Vaught was the brother-in-law of Edward W. Dale, whose daughter Elvira had married Jeromes son, Jerome Bonaparte (Jr.) Pillow designed and built the mansion that was very similar to both the other homes. All three mansions were two-story with pedimented porticos, columns that went from the top to the ground. The Pillow-Bethel House (as were the others) was constructed from brick made on the property and besides the house there were servants quarters, a detached kitchen, carriage barn, and stables. There was also a small building thought to be a law office. Captain William Decatur Bethel married one of Jerome&#39;s daughters thus giving the name Pillow-Bethel House to the property.</p><br>
<p>The Windigo River runs in the unorganized territory of Lac-Ashuapmushuan, Quebec and in the territory of La Tuque, in Mauricie, in Quebec, in Canada.</p><br>
<h2>Geography</h2><br>
<p>Windigo River flows from north to south in the forest, in the Laurentides in Upper-Mauricie, on a distance of nearly 100 km on the east side of Saint-Maurice River. Downward, the water passes through the unorganized territory of Lac-Ashuapmushuan, Quebec and the territory of La Tuque.</p><br>
<p>The watershed neighbors of Windigo River are:</p><br>
<p>on the east side: that of the Jolie River (south) and that of the Pierriche River (north) including its tributary the River Pierriche west</p><br>
<p>on the west side: Saint-Maurice River.</p><br>
<p>Several small lakes are the headwaters of the Windigo River including: "lac de la hauteur" (Lake of Height) and "lac du Pigamon" (Lake Pigamon). Lakes heads are surrounded by mountains with peaks reaching up to 2150 feet. Coming down from the mountains, the water of the river pass through some lakes, including: lAbbé (the Abbot), de lAdiante (the Maidenhair), Wilfried, Windigo, Wageguma and Compass.</p><br>
<p>At 2.5 km before its mouth, Windigo river turns west. The river empties into the Reservoir Blanc in front of the hamlet "Windigo" (located on the west side of Saint-Maurice River). The Reservoir Blanc is an artificial enlargement of the Saint-Maurice River because of the dam Rapide-Blanc. The mouth of the Windigo River is at 6 km upstream of the bend of the Saint-Maurice River, located near the hamlet McTavish.</p><br>

<p>East side: streams Veillette, Doucet, Arsenault Creek, Wapposening, Bédard, "du Chasseur" (Hunter), Nastapolk, Hilda (from Lake Hilda) Cabeloga River and "Genévrier" (Juniper).</p><br>
<p>Windigo West River</p><br>
<p>Windigo West River joins the Windigo river at about 18 km (measured by its flow) from the mouth of the latter. Geographic coordinates of the mouth of the Windigo West River are: -73° 21 52&quot 47° 54 26". The header Lake of the Windigo River West is Lake Relay. Going down the waters pass in north of Canton Rheaume (township) through, including: lakes Pikew, Usik, Niskekan and Benes lake (the latter is located 25 km (direct line) northwest of the mouth of the West River Windigo). The latter river flows prior to the southwest, and then branches off to the southeast. This river is harvesting waters south side streams "de la Grosse Île" (of the Big Island), Lajeunesse and Villeneuve. Windigo West River has several waterfalls and rapids, while collecting water from several lakes in wilderness.</p><br>
<p>Windigo Northwest River</p><br>
<p>The Jamme Lake (located in the unorganized territory of Lac-Ashuapmushuan) is the header Lake of the Windigo northwest river. This river is on south of Kennedy Creek watershed and flows south-east to go spilling into the Windigo River. Windigo northwest river drains water many lakes, including: Nancy, Iris, Julien, Round, Flow, "aux Grenouilles" (the Frogs), Noël (Christmas), "De la Boucane", Gros Buck and Partage.</p><br>
<h2>Toponymy</h2><br>
<p>In his exploration of the territory, based from 1874 report, the surveyor Gideon Gagnon signals "Windigo River". The Railway Canadian National between La Tuque and Senneterre passes through the hamlet. The Postal Service has operated a post office Windigo between 1921 and 1964. In De Ker-Is in Quebec (1990), Fernand Grenier wrote that in Algonquin peoples and the Cree language, the Windigo (or Wendigo) is a powerful cannibal fabulous monster, giant, sometimes. Possessed by evil spirit, crazy, Windigo has to be slaughtered at the first opportunity. The same term is used when you want to settle down children: it is then a kind of bogeyman or fellow Sept Heures! In the Quebec language, "from the Windigo" usually means moving away in the woods, go to the sites or run the adventure in remote and often disreputable places".</p><br>
<p>The Abenaki denote the river Kiwakwazibo or the giant river and Attikameks know him as Witiko Sipi river monster. Variation: Hand.</p><br>
<p>According to the Commission de toponymie du Québec (Geographical Names Board of Quebec), 28 names Quebecois carry this designation notably "Rapids Windigo" on the Saint-Maurice River, located in the canton of Bourassa, within the limits of La Tuque, about 40 miles north of Weymontachie.</p><br>
<p>The name "Windigo River" was recorded on December 5, 1968 at the Bank of place names in the Commission de toponymie du Québec (Geographical Names Board of Québec).</p><br>
<p>Swan Ponds is a historic plantation house located near Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built in 1848, and is a two-story, three bay, brick mansion with a low hip roof in the Greek Revival style. It features a one-story low hip-roof porch with bracketed eaves, a low pedimented central pavilion, and square columns. Swan Ponds plantation was the home of Waightstill Avery , an early American lawyer and soldier. His son Isaac Thomas Avery built the present Swan Ponds dwelling. Swan Ponds was the birthplace of North Carolina politician and lawyer William Waightstill Avery , Clarke Moulton Avery owner of Magnolia Place, and Confederate States Army officer Isaac E. Avery .</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.</p><br>
<p>The Vedganga river is a river in India, which joins the Panchganga river which in turn joins the Krishna river.</p><br>
<p>The Vedganga river rises at an elevation of 900 m in the Kolhapur District of Maharashtra State from the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats. The river flows mostly north-eastwards in Maharashtra State and thereafter continues to flow eastwards to join the Dudhganga river flowing eastwards joining the Krishna river from the right bank.</p><br>
<p>The rugged terrain is cut with valleys of dentritic pattern of streams feeding the tributaries of the Krishna river</p><br>
<p>system. The sub-tributaries and tributaries of Ghatprabha and Malprabha located on the right bank of the Krishna river offer good sites for hydro-electric development through dam-toe-power stations.</p><br>
<p>Quaker Meadows, also known as the McDowell House at Quaker Meadows, is a historic plantation house located near Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina. It was built about 1812, and is a two-story, four bay by two bay, Quaker plan brick structure in the Federal style. It features two one-story shed porches supported by square pillars ornamented by scroll sawn brackets. The Quaker Meadows plantation was the home of Revolutionary War figure, Col. Charles McDowell. It was at Quaker Meadows that Zebulon Baird Vance  married Charles McDowell&#39;s niece, Harriet N. Espy.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.</p><br>
<p>The house is owned by the Historic Burke Foundation and has been restored to an 1812 appearance. It is open for tours and available for rent.</p><br>
<p>The Poloa Defensive Fortifications are a set of historic military structures on the island of Tutuila in American Samoa. Consisting of three concrete pillboxes along the beach, these fortifications were built by American Marines as part of a system of defenses against a feared Japanese amphibious invasion of Samoa during the early part of World War II. The Poloa pillboxes stand out from other emplacements on Tutuila for their relatively less robust construction, possibly reflecting American tactical planning for greater defense in depth at this location. The threat of invasion eased by late 1942, and the fortifications never saw combat.</p><br>
<p>The Poloa fortifications were added to the United States National Register of Historic Places in 2012.</p><br>
<p>Sarah Jane Powell Log Cabin, is a historic home located at Cooksville, Howard County, Maryland, United States.</p><br>
<p>In 1850, Thomas Hood was one of three founding county commissioners of Howard County. In 1859 Thomas Hood built the log cabin on his property for his slave Sarah Jane Powell (born 1827) for her "unwavering fidelity and general moral worth as a servant". The cabin is a 3-bay-wide, -story-tall structure with a brick fireplace. Sarah Jane Powell married Alfred Dorsey, and had their first child in the cabin in 1865. In May 1869, the -acre property the cabin resided on named "Poverty Discovered" was deeded to Sarah Jane Dorsey. The cabin has been occupied by over seven generations of Dorseys, with a family graveyard located on the property. The property is just north of a former crossroads town named Inwood, and adjacent to a 30-acre parcel owned by the Board of Education in the 1970s, which has not been developed.</p><br>
<p>Lake Dunmore is a freshwater lake in Addison County, Vermont. The lake spans the towns of Salisbury and Leicester and has a surface area of 985 acres . Lake Dunmore is over 3 miles long  and up to 1 mile wide. The primary source of water is Sucker Brook, which rises in the adjacent Moosalamoo National Recreation Area of the Green Mountain National Forest. The lake is drained by Leicester River, a tributary to Otter Creek, which in turn empties into Lake Champlain.</p><br>
<p>Branbury State Park occupies 69 acres (28 hectares) of the eastern shore and offers a sandy beach, canoe rentals, and campsites. Vermont Route 53 follows the eastern and northern shores of the lake. Most of the shoreline is privately owned.</p><br>
<p>Although a natural lake formed by glaciation, the water level is controlled by a small dam. In addition, Sucker Brook is part of a hydroelectricity project connecting Silver Lake and Sugar Hill Reservoir via Sucker Brook and operated by Green Mountain Power.</p><br>
<p>Bushy Park is a historic slave plantation located at Glenwood, Howard County, Maryland, United States. It is located on a 3,940 acre land patent named "Ridgley&#39;s Great Park".</p><br>
<p>Bushy park is known as the home of Charles Alexander Warfield. Warfield married Elizabeth Ridgley of Laurel in 1771 and settled in a log home at "Bushy Park". The same year he started construction on his slave plantation manor home. On 19 October 1774, Warfield and his neighbors travelled to Annapolis and burned the Peggy Stewart in retaliation to sanctions on Americans following the Boston Tea Party. Paintings of the incident are displayed in the State House at Annapolis and the Court House at Baltimore.</p><br>
<p>In 1866 Charles D. Warfeild sold the 270 acre and 160 acre Bushy Park tracts containing an eight room stone and frame house, including two tenant houses, blacksmith shop, 250 tree apple orchard and 73 tree peach orchard. The property later was owned by the "Hammond" family of the Major Charles family line. The manor stood for over 150 years, burned in 1933, and was demolished in 1947. A new house was built over the original foundation. In 1978, the property was purchased by the Clevenger family and had been subdivided down to 342 acres, but was still actively farmed. In 1983, it had been subdivided down to a 190-acre parcel named "Bushy Park Farm" and sold again. A portion of the original estate became the Carr&#39;s Mill Landfill, which became a site of hazardous waste dumping by Western Electric in the 1970s. Howard County spent millions of dollars to cap the landfill and dispose of hazardous materials after contamination of groundwater on the site. Warfield is buried at Bushy Park. The walled cemetery remains, but the majority of the 1300-acre farm has been redeveloped as the Western Regional Park, operated by Howard County.</p><br>

<p>Shanty Run begins in Davidson Township. It flows east for a short distance before turning south. It then turns south-southwest and enters a steep valley. At the end of the valley, the stream reaches its confluence with Quinn Run.</p><br>
<p>Shanty Run joins Quinn Run 0.48 mi upstream of its mouth.</p><br>

<p>The discharge of Shanty Run is 472 gallons per minute during average flow conditions. The stream&#39;s pH during average flow conditions is 5.76 and the concentration of aluminum is 0.107 milligrams per liter. The pH ranges from considerably less than 5 to nearly 7.</p><br>
<p>Shanty Run experiences episodic acidification. The water quality of the stream is considered to be "fair" during average flow conditions and "very poor" during high flow conditions. It requires an additional alkalinity load of 1 lb to be restored to the satisfaction of the East Branch Fishing Creek Restoration Plan. Proposed methods of increasing the stream&#39;s alkalinity include forest surface liming and road liming.</p><br>
<p>A total of 1.69 mi of Shanty Run are considered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to be impaired due to atmospheric deposition caused by the streams pH. 0.30 mi of Shanty Runs unnamed tributary experience the same impairment.</p><br>
<h2>Geography and geology</h2><br>
<p>The elevation near the mouth of Shanty Run is 1,627 ft above sea level. The elevation of the stream&#39;s source is between 2,380 ft and 2,400 ft.</p><br>
<p>The lower reaches of Shanty Run are on rock of the Huntley Mountain Formation. The upper reaches are on Burgoon Sandstone. Some rock outcroppings are present near the stream.</p><br>
<p>Shanty Run flows over soil of the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga association in its lower reaches. In its upper reaches, it flows over soil of the Oquaga soil association and the Norris soil association. All of the soils in the watershed are strongly acidic.</p><br>

<p>The Dyke Mountain Annex is a historic house at 319 Dyke Mountain Road in Sebago, Maine. This 2-1/2 story wood frame house was built sometime between 1906 and 1908 by Grace L. Dike, proprietor of the Dyke Mountain Hotel, a popular summer resort in the hills west of Sebago Lake. It is the only surviving element of the hostelry, the rest of which was destroyed by fire in 1927. This structure originally housed only sleeping and common lounge spaces, but was modified after the fire to have a kitchen, and continued to be operated as a summer hostel by Dike until her death in 1937. It continues to be used as a guest lodging facility by its present owners.</p><br>
<p>The house is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure with a gable roof. An engaged porch wraps around three sides of the building, and the front roof facade is pierced by three shed-roof dormers. The second floor of the front elevation has five sash windows, while the first floor has an asymmetrical recessed face with its entry slightly less recessed than the surrounding exterior walls. The porch, under the overhanging second floor, is supported by chamfered square posts. The kitchen ell is a two story structure extending to the rear of the main block. The interior of the first floor main block is one large chamber, accessed via doors from a vestibule area, with a stairwell in the southwest and a narrow hall leading to a bathroom and kitchen. There are four bedrooms on the second floor, and two more in the attic space.</p><br>

<p>Pigeon Run is a tributary of Sullivan Branch in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 1.3 mi long and flows through Davidson Township. Its watershed has an area of 0.78 square miles. The stream has a low pH and sometimes has poor water quality, although that could potentially be remedied. The main rock formations in the area are the Catskill Formation, the Huntley Mountain Formation, and the Burgoon Sandstone. All of these soils are highly acidic. There are also some rock outcroppings near the stream.</p><br>

Master builder Nathan Vaught started construction in 1838, and the mansion and other buildings were completed in 1839, for Gideon Johnson Pillow  on land inherited from Gideon Pillow.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Clifton Place was the first of three mansions built for the Pillow brothers by Vaught. Pillow-Bethel House (Bethel House) was built for Jerome Bonaparte Pillow and Pillow Place (Pillow-Haliday) for Major Granville A. Pillow. The two story mansion had a two-room attic, a two-room basement and a supply cellar. Single story side-wings were added in 1846. There was an office and separated kitchen. Other service buildings such as a smokehouse, carriage house, more than one barn, farm buildings, and slave quarters were built away from the main house. In 1852 the roof was raised and a pedimented portico supported by columns was added to the facade.</p><br>
<p>Son-in-law Melville Williams took over the plantation in 1872, and another relative Colonel J. W. S. Ridley, purchased the property in 1877, and Ridley family members owned the plantation until 1877.</p><br>
<p>The mansion was placed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Maury County, Tennessee on July 8, 1970.</p><br>
<p>Phum Snay  is an Iron Age archaeological site discovered in May 2000 in Preah Neat Prey District, Banteay Meanchey Province, Northwest Cambodia, around 80 km from the temple ruins of Angkor. The site was excavated between 2001 and 2003 by primary excavators Dougald O’Reilly of the Australian National University, Pheng Sitha and Thuy Chanthourn. The excavation was intended to discover more about Iron Age life in Cambodia.</p><br>
<h2>Discovery</h2><br>
<p>The site was discovered in 2000 during roadworks, that linked Phum Snay village with National Road 6. Investigations revealed the presence of a number of ancient burials associated with material including bronzes and semiprecious stones. Immediate widespread looting by the local inhabitants over an area of 24 km&sup2; made a full assessment of the extent of the archaeological remains difficult. Excavations started in February 2001 on a 15 x 5 m area.</p><br>
<h2>Chronology</h2><br>
<p>The site dates roughly between 500 BC and AD 500. These dates were not obtained from stratigraphy as many of the artifacts and burials were disturbed by looting. Chronology was therefore determined by comparison to other nearby sites with similar grave goods and mortuary rituals.</p><br>
<h2>Human remains</h2><br>
<p>A general analysis was done of the 134 individuals identified through the minimum number of individuals method. Twenty-one burials in total were exhumed that contained human remains. The researchers noted pathological lesions in photos and written descriptions. A few specimens were x-rayed but the images yielded limited results. The majority of the injuries listed were cranial lesions. These were categorized into two groups: those caused by sharp force trauma (henceforth referred to SFT) which left small focused circles or lines and those caused by blunt force trauma (BFT,) resulting in round depressions in the scalp. SFT lesions are generally caused by sharp edged weapons, such as knives, swords and axes. Projectiles, such as arrows or those used by a slingshot should also be considered as SFT objects or items. BFT lesions result from clubs, cudgels and hammers. Perimortem injuries were identified as separate from healed injuries because they often had bone flakes adhered to the edges of the fractures. Researchers were careful to distinguish between lesions caused by violence and those caused by infectious disease.</p><br>
<h2>Results</h2><br>
<h3>Traumatic lesions</h3><br>
<p>Out of the sample discovered at Phum Snay, 23.4% of the individuals showed signs of traumatic lesions, a number that is much higher than any other site in Southeast Asia. Both BFT and SFT were present within the skeletal remains, but there was a much higher rate of healed lesions than perimortem lesions. Some individuals had more than one lesion present upon the cranium. Within a sample of fifteen individuals, seventeen BFT lesions could be seen. These BFT lesions were rounded in shape, ranging in diameter from roughly 4 to 22 mm. Estimations suggest that injuries acquired by the individuals at the site were much higher than the remains can represent because a majority of assaults probably caused soft-tissue injuries, which would not be preserved in the archaeological record.</p><br>
<h3>Burials</h3><br>
<p>Within the Phum Snay site, two types of burials were found. These include bodies that were stretched out lying flat and pits where remains were simply in piles. The burials contained a variety of grave goods, including ceramic vessels, bronze ornaments (bangles, rings, and bells), and a large quantity of animal bones. The proportion of left forelimbs of hooved animals suggest a very particular sacrificial practice of animals within the burials. Researchers found that the manner of the burials and the goods contained within were closest in relation to the Óc Eo culture of the Mekong Delta.</p><br>
<h3>Weapons</h3><br>
<p>Another major find within Phum Snay was the high percentage of burials containing weapons. The graves contained swords, daggers, spearheads, and projectile points. Due to the context of burials with high rates of traumatic lesions, the presence of these weapons indicates possible military formation, and certainly an increased level of violence than is seen in other sites within Southeast Asia. The weapons and tools found within the site were made of iron with bronze adornments. This solidified the site&#39;s place within the Iron Age because iron weapons and tools had many advantages over bronze, such as the high abundance of iron within the Earth, which made the spread of iron very rapid. Also present in the burials of a number of young adult males were ornamental shoulder decorations, which further support the idea of a violence-oriented society. The lack of blunt objects within the burials is slightly puzzling due to the higher rate of BFT lesions than SFT lesions, but this could be explained if the individuals at Phum Snay wore helmets for protection.</p><br>
<h3>Health</h3><br>
<p>The health of the people living at Phum Snay was also determined from the burials. Rates of attrition, caries, and abscesses in the teeth of the human remains gave an idea of their dietary habits. The main result from the dentition was the presence of a social structure regarding male and female roles within the community. Rates of dental caries in females were higher than the males, which may be attributed to a sexual division of labor. If the men are out hunting, they are receiving a higher level of protein in the food they are consuming, while the females may be eating more cariogenic foods if they are back tending the fields and surrounded by starches and carbohydrates.</p><br>
<h3>Morphological comparisons</h3><br>
<p>Measurements were taken on the cranial and dental morphologies of the individuals found within Phum Snay to compare them with those of modern Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos. The morphological similarities were found from Q-mode correlation coefficients of cranial and dental metrics. The findings indicated that the morphology of individuals at Phum Snay were significantly different than any of the other groups being compared. Overall, the modern groups have less robusticity than is found in the Phum Snay morphologies.</p><br>
<h2>Archaeological significance</h2><br>
<p>The high rates of traumatic lesions and weapons within the burials at Phum Snay suggest a society that values warriors. Fighting was an important part of life to the people, which could be indicative of increasing competition over access to exotic exchange items during the Iron Age. Furthering this idea is the general location of Phum Snay, right outside the Angkorian capital. Increasing competition over resources could have been the driving force behind the formation of a hierarchical society and organized state.</p><br>
<p>The differences in morphological features between the human remains at Phum Snay and other modern Southeast Asian areas lends itself to the two-layer hypothesis. The people at Phum Snay were less affected by the substantial gene flow received by other areas of Southeast Asia.</p><br>
<p>The Seefelder Spitze is a mountain east of Seefeld in Tirol in the Karwendel Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is 2,221 metres high and there is a summit cross at the top.</p><br>
<h2>Ascent</h2><br>
<p>There is an easy waymarked route approaching from the Rosshütte to the northwest. The path runs climbs initially eastwards to the Seefelder Joch and then turns south along the ridgeline on the Panorama Höhenweg to the summit. This ridgeline has metal railings for protection in one or two places but is straightforward provided care is taken, especially when busy. The Rosshütte is at the top of a funicular from Seefeld and is connected to the Seefelder Joch by a cable car. Another, more difficult approach is from the more exposed ridgeline to the south from the direction of the Reither Spitze, and there are also unmarked tracks up the west flank.</p><br>
<p>The Härmelekopf is a mountain northeast of Seefeld in Tirol in the Karwendel Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is 2,224 metres high.</p><br>
<h2>Ascent</h2><br>
<p>About 400 metres from the summit of the Härmelekopf is the top station of the Härmelekopfbahn cable car, from where there is a steep and difficult path to the top which then continues along an arête to the Reither Spitze. Another easier path leads from the top station and then forks, the left branch making for the Reither Scharte and the right branch for the Nördlinger Hut.</p><br>
<h2>Industry</h2><br>
<p>On the western side of the mountain, at between 1,500 and 1,700 metres, are the remains of old mine workings.</p><br>
<h2>Skiing</h2><br>
<p>The western side of the Härmelekopf is also part of the Rosshütte ski area. In addition to the cable car from the Rosshütte itself, there are lifts from Seefeld (the Hochangerbahn) and the Reiterjoch Alm (the Reiteralmbahn).</p><br>
<p>The Hohe Munde is a 2,662 m mountain at the eastern end of the Mieming Chain in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It has two peaks: the west top  and the east top or Mundekopf .</p><br>
<h2>Location</h2><br>
<p>The Hohe Munde rises north of the village of Telfs in the Inn valley. To the east is the Seefeld Plateau and the Leutasch village of Moos. To the north it is separated from the Wetterstein Mountains by the valley of Gaistal. To the west, the Mieming Chain stretches away into the distance. Beyond the saddle of Niedere Munde (2,059 m) is the next peak in the chain, the 2,469 metre high Karkopf, followed by the 2,719 metre high Hochwand.</p><br>
<h2>Ascent</h2><br>
<p>The mountain may be climbed on an easy but strenuous tour from Moos via the Rauth Hut (1,605 m). The cable car from Moos to the Rauth Hut (the Mundelift) is no longer working. On the eastern slopes of the Mundekopf extensive avalanche defences have been built to protect the village of Sagl. These were finished in August 2014.</p><br>
<p>Sure-footed and experienced climbers can also climb the Hohe Munde from Telfs - branching off in Straßberg to the saddle of the Niedere Munde - via the western arête, a route graded as UIAA I. There are several climbing routes up the north and south faces below both the east and west tops, some of which are difficult.</p><br>
<p>A ski tour is possible over the steep (up to 45 degrees) east side in the spring. However, this requires safe firn conditions and a very early start.</p><br>
<h2>Drama and television</h2><br>
<p>In 1990, the drama Munde by Felix Mitterer was premiered on the Hohe Munde.</p><br>
<p>In 2009 the Tatort episode, Baum der Erlösung, was partly filmed in the summit area of the Hohe Munde.</p><br>
